“A good teacher is like a candle -it consumes itself to light the way for others.” My heart and passion for children is simply driven by one goal: to make a difference. I want to push my students so that they can become successful and reach their goals and dreams. As much as we can teach children, we have the unique opportunity to learn from them.
My name is Sejal Dave and I LOVE MY JOB. Originally born in London, England, I spent most of my childhood growing up in the States. I graduated from Winona State University with a Special Education degree and went back to school to get my elementary education background. My experience includes teaching at Tuke School (special needs school) in London for 3 years, 6 months working with special needs children in Nairobi, Kenya and working as a Setting III teacher at Hoover Elementary in Rochester, MN. I just finished up my first year here at Triton High School and have moved down to the elementary building working with students with ASD.
I love to travel and have been to many many countries in the world. My love for culture comes from my cultural heritage itself. Growing up in the minority in Rochester was kind of hard for me as a child. With time however, I learned to embrace my culture and had a passion for sharing and learning about other cultures. Promoting acceptance and respect in classrooms is something I look forward to each and every year, as all students come from diverse backgrounds.
I spent most of my time growing up volunteering in schools and was driven to be a teacher because of my love of teaching. I love to work with my students and change and adjust curriculum to fit my students’ needs. The best part of my job is being able to think outside of the box and teach students without limitations. Art is one of my passions and being able to use that along with my knowledge of culture has allowed me to challenge and drive my students ability to learn and think beyond the surface
Our students are our future. Each student has the opportunity to bring something unique and special into this world. Teaching is one of the most rewarding jobs and takes a lot of passion and commitment. It is a privilege to be able to be a part of a student’s life and what a chance that is for us to create positive impacts.
